My teacher told me this
Answer:
To answer your question, cancer will not necessarily be gone forever if it doesn't come back for 5 years. You're referring to remission. Remissions can be temporary or permanent. Although some cancers are recurrent, there's really no magic number but every year in remission increases one's chances and post-remission therapy can provide an even better outcome and prognosis.
I'm sorry but your teacher is wrong. Print this out and show it to him/her.
Answer:
Not necessarily, but your chances of remaining cancer free increase after 5 years of remission.
Answer:
Well, some oncologists feel that after 5 years in "remission," if the cancer has not recurred, your chances of it never coming back again, look good, but they are quick to tell you, that's no reason to celebrate. Then they give you examples of people they knew who had been in remission 10 or 15 years, and the cancer came back.
Answer:
Hate to talk about the subject of cancer, but no, it's not always for sure. So make sure you have routine check ups and physicals yearly.
Answer:
unfortunately, my dear, no cancer is not gone, the reason i am answering ur question is because i was looking for an answer about cancer, as we speak my mom is on her way to the hospital for fluid on the lungs, which is a side effect from chemoetherapy and radiation from cancer that was treated over 5 years ago, just 2 weeks ago she was in the hospital fot the same thing and they drained the fluid. They tested the cells in the fluid and it came back to be cancerous, keep in mind my mom had/has breast cancer which has now come back 5 years later and has spreaded to her lungs. NOW, everyone thinks that lung cancer comes from smoking, no it does not, my mom has never smoked in her life, where it comes from we dont know, anyway sorry to ramble on and on, but to answer your question, yes it can come back, and come back worst than before.. Keep your head up, it will be ok, beat cancer dont let it beat you ( ribbons for everyone )
Answer:
In my chiropractic education I had to look at hundreds of X-ray films. These were films of diseases that were confirmed in many cases by biopsy. Many were of metastatic cancer in a woman who had breast cancer 10 or even 15 years prior. They never use the term cure in cancer, they use cancer free. One is never cured.
Answer:
No, this is a common misconception.
My friend had cervical cancer, and was told if it had not recurred when five years has passed, she stood no more chance of getting it again than somebody who had never had it.
I had breast cancer, and there is no 'all-clear' for that; it can recur at any time, even many years later. 'No Evidence of Disease' (NED) is what doctors will tell you at your check-ups if there is no sign of cancer. Statistically, however, there is less chance of recurrence after five years, which is why five years can be looked on as some sort of milestone even where it is no guarantee.
So clearly it varies with different types of cancer; but no, five years with no sign of cancer is not an automatic guarantee.
Answer:
Cancer can be cured, but doctors don't like to talk about it, because some people have remissions of 10 or 20 years and the cancer recurred!!
But the first 5 years are crucial!! After that the chances of he reappeared are small
