My mom has lymphoma and is in the middle of chemotherapy. We're trying to think of some things, simple projects, that she can do in her "well" times to occupy her mind and hands. She tires easily and she is a senior citizen but she needs to stay somewhat active when she feels good. Her interests are cooking, gardening, music, family. Do you have any creative ideas for indoor projects we could do together?
Answer:
Pick up a couple of cooking magazines or cookbooks and try preparing some new dishes or plan to make in the future. One of my favorite cooking magazines is Saveur. It not only features interesting recipies but also good stories about where the dishes originated.
I know when I was doing chemo there weren't many foods that really appealed to me but on my good days I did enjoy cooking for my family, even if the food didn't taste good to me. I also enjoyed watching cooking shows when I was too pooped to do much else.
