What is the earliest age that is known for someone to get skin cancer?
I am 14 years old and I have a reddish/brownish mole with uneven edges that's been on me as long as I can remember. I've never really sunbaked all that much and I don't get sunburnt easily. There is also no family history of skin cancer. Could I have it or am I too young??
Im confused…..
Thanks
Maddy
Answer:
I would suggest that you make an appointment to have it removed. Things growing on the skin have a higher chance of becoming cancerous than skin itself. You will rest more easily. Otherwise, you may have to have this checked periodically. I had two doctors examine a growth of mine and both said it was nothing. I finally had the money to have it removed and it was basal cell carcinoma, so most definitely go to a dermatologist that doesn't specialize in cosmetic surgery.
Answer:
go to the dermotologist!
it's good to remember the abcd's of skin cancer:
asymmetry - it should be pretty even
border - the border shouldn't be jagged
color - it should be one color
diameter - i believe a healthy mole shouldn't be bigger than a pencil eraser
Answer:
My son had to have cancerous moles removed when he was 10. You need to have it checked.
