Yesterday I noticed a red bump on my breast that looked like a bug bite but it had red veins radiating from it. Today it's kind of sore. Has anyone had this? I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I'm scared to death its Inflammatory breast cancer.
Answer:
A good way to scare oneself nearly to death is by playing the "What if" game. You won't know the diagnosis until tomorrow — or even more likely, a couple of days until tests have been done.
As much as you can under the circumstances, try to detach emotionally from the fear you're obviously feeling and deal strictly with the here and now — the things which need to be done *right this minute*. If the fear really starts to get to you, talk to your spouse or a trusted friend.
Even assuming the very worst — there are many, MANY things which can be done to treat inflammatory breast cancer and it is no longer the automatic death sentence it was 20 years ago. Trying to keep a positive attitude will help you IMMENSELY.
