If your granddaughter is an adult she should contact Cancer Care at the first link below and they have social workers who can help with your options. If she is not an adult, her parents or legal guardians should do so.

If you really need help and can document it there is help available. But be aware that there are lots of unscrupulous people who say their child, grandchild, has cancer and ask for money. I do not give money directly to anyone I don't know just because they say they have cancer. There are too many people who use cancer, which is a serious problem, to get money. It leaves people who really need help out in the cold.

Hope your granddaughter gets better!

Answer:
Generally you can't get help for rent for cancer. She would have to be on disability for that. Other than that the only thing you can do is apply for section 8 housing, but that might require you to move.
