Ive been in remission from hodgkins lymphoma for 5 years now but when i had my last blood test it revealed that my platelets were very low (105) apparently the norm is 150 …i had a sore throat when i had the blood test (still have) could this cause the low platlets? im scared it might be something serious like leukemia(sorry bout the spelling) i have to wait for a month to have a blood test to see if they have gone higher…i've brought broccoli and vegetables to eat(i never eat them i hate them) will this help…i feel fine in my self except for the sore throat…i cant go on like this for a whole month im going to make myself sick with worry :(.
Answer:
A viral syndrome (such as might cause a sore throat) could easily cause a low platelet count. I wouldn't worry, but I would wait a few weeks and get rechecked. This can also be seen sometimes as a sort of bone marrow damage after extensive chemotherapy or radiation. In any case, get rechecked as these platelets are not that low and many things (like viruses and medications) can temporarily knock them down.
Answer:
oh love dont worry yourself… yes the blood count will change if your not well, e.g cold sore throat,, it does not mean the hodgkins has come back,, wait untill your 100% better no sore throat etc and then ask for another blood test just to put your mind at rest,, xx
