Answer:
It really depends on the cancer. Some, such as pancreatic cancer, have such a high mortality rate because most instances have few–if any–symptoms, so they aren't caught in their early stages. Others *do* have symptoms… but it really depends on your doctor's experience as to if it's properly diagnosed early. Hodgkin's Disease, for example, has many flu-like symptoms in some people; others get things like night sweats, severely itchy skin (usually on the lower legs), and noticeable enlargement of lymph nodes.
It really does depend on the type of cancer and the individual who has it.

Answer:
What kind of cancer are you referring to?
Answer:
There are many different kinds of cancer affecting any part of the body so symptoms differ.
Answer:
Yes, there are. And, there are many, many symptoms because cancer isn't just one obscure disease, like the chicken pox or influenza.
Its cut down into hundreds of other types (i.e. breast cancer, leukemia, skin cancer.) And those symptoms for each of those diseases are quite varied. Like, for example…
If you have one symptom for skin cancer, like ulcers in the skin, you might have skin CANCER. Now, it doesn't mean you might have breast CANCER, but you might have CANCER.
(Sorry, if I confused you…>.<) It really depends what kind of cancer you're talking about.

Hope this helps. The 7 early warning signs:
1. Change in bowel or bladder habits
2. A sore that does not heal
3. Unusual bleeding or discharge
4. Thickening or lump in breast or elsewhere
5. Indigestion or difficulty in swallowing
6. Obvious change in a mole or wart
7. Nagging cough or hoarseness
Change in Bowel or Bladder Habits
Change in bowel habits may be a sign of colorectal cancer. Constipation or diarrhea accompanied by abdominal pain may indicate there is a tumor blocking your colon. A major symptom of cancer in the rectum is discharge of blood with bowel movements.
A Sore that does not Heal
A sore that does not heal may be related to cancer. Smokers and people who use chewing tobacco may develop oral leukoplakia. Oral leukoplakia are rough white patches which form in the mouth. These patches may develop into cancer.
Unusual Bleeding or Discharge
Unusual bleeding or discharge from the rectum, bladder or vagina may indicate signs of cancer.
Thickening or Lump in Breast or Elsewhere
Thickening or a lump in the breast can be signs of breast cancer. Other signs of breast cancer include retraction of the nipple, nipple discharge, pain or tenderness in that area. Cancer of the testis may present with a lump in the testicular area.
Indigestion or Difficulty in Swallowing
Indigestion or difficulty in swallowing can be a symptom of esophageal or stomach cancer. People with esophageal cancer may complain that food "feels stuck" when they eat.
Obvious Change in a Mole or Wart
Obvious change in a mole or wart (or darkening of a previously normal area) can be a sign of melanoma, or skin cancer.
Nagging Cough or Hoarseness
Nagging cough or hoarseness may be early signs of lung cancer, which is the number one killer in women and men who have cancer.
Answer:
Cancer is a group of illnesses related to unwanted cell growth. As a result, each cancer tends to have its own symptoms.
There is no one symptom (skin lesions, poor appetite, fatigue) that says "cancer" nor do all cancers have symptoms (i.e., slow growing prostate cancer in someone who is 90 years old). The process of differential diagnosis is where the doctor tries to identify your illness from the list of illnesses that share those symptoms. Most symptoms that might indicate cancer also might indicate a fairly benign (and non cancerous) condition.
A list of symptoms is at http://www.cancersymptoms.org/ and http://www.emedicinehealth.com/cancer_sy…
Patients with cancer tend to do best when their cancer is diagnosed (and treated) early — by the time symptoms are evident, the cancer is often in a more advanced stage and much more difficult to cure. That is why there are many screening tests — colonoscopy, mammogram, pap smears, PSA, etc.
