i know it only ever takes 15 mins at most but i have bone mets and lying still there is actually hard for me
Answer:
Rads usually takes no more than 5 minutes. You could maybe ask for some ativan or mild pain reliever a tiny while before your rad treatment. You could also have a cushion under the bone that aches lying there. They're very accomodating that way. I had brains rads and if I even got a nose twitch, they'd come in and unhook my mask just so I could scratch my nose or even have a sneeze. They would always bring me blankets cause it was always cold in there. Also, they played music for me.
Oh I know it can seem like forever. I had form fitted mask that they bolted my head down on the “bed” I was laying on. I think something kind of thin, that would give a little more cushion for your hip area would help long enough to get you through this. Good luck to you; you're gonna do great!
Answer:
Yes - you can ask your oncologist to prescribe pills to relieve the pain.
This is something that happens frequently to people who had polio as kids - and if you go onto the polio fellowship website there’s more information.
It is appalling that you should suffer - but I know you do - it happened to me, so I set up www.after-cancer.com to tell others that there were nice things happening - but you have to ASK for help.
Good luck
