I’ve a lump in my left breast. I noticed it about 6 months ago and it hasnt gone away but has become bigger. I sometimes have a brownish red discharge from the left breast. Right breast is fine no lump or discharge. Once in a while I’ve a sharp shooting pain in the left breast .I’m 28 years old. My paternal Grandmother had breast cancer. A well as a Maternal Aunt. What are rhe odds that I could have some form of breast cancer? I’m afraid to go to the doctor and find out that I’ve cancer.
Answer:
hi J if you don't go to the physicians the worry and stress will make your condition worse so make an appointment with your GP. as soon as possible if it is something to give the doctor concern he’ll make an appoint for you to see an oncologist and to do some test the earlier cancer is detected the better chance you have of a full recovery,if it is nothing then all your stress and worry will be gone and you will say to your-self why didn't I do this sooner, normally cancer lumps do not cause pain but because of your family history it has to be checked out. my daughter had one but she had to go through all the test because of me, but thankfully it turned out to be a cyst. so try and pick up the courage and make an appointment with your doctor. good luck.
Answer:
Breast cancer in someone as young as you’re is very rare, but it does happen.
You should make an appointment to see your doctor; most breast lumps aren't cancerous, and most cancerous breast lumps don't injured, but all breast lumps should be investigated.
Hereditary breast cancer is actually rare - only 5 - 10% of all breast cancer cases are genetic. If the two unrelated family members are the only cases of breast cancer in your family, the chances are that their cancer was random rather than due to one of the two known faulty breast cancer genes - an indication is hereditary cancer within a family is that a number of family members on the same side of the family have had that type of cancer.. You would be at increased risk if one of your parents carried one of the faulty genes, in which case you would have a 50% chance of inheriting it.
BUT you should mention your family history when you see your doctor. Try not to be afraid; if your doctor is concerned s/he will refer you for tests (you may have to insist a bit, as some physicians don't refer young women as emergencies because breast cancer is so rare in young women).
It might very well not be cancer, but if it is then the earlier it is diagnosed the superior.
Good luck
Answer:
Well, you’ve raised some very key points there, that being the discharge and the genetic link also.
I think it would be the only wise thing to do to go and see a doctor ASAP.
Any change in the breast, be it lumps, discharge, puckering of the skin, change in nipple area..ANYTHING at all..then always have it checked.
It might only be a cyst, but you can’t afford to leave it to chance.
Ideal wishes, I will be thinking of you x
Answer:
six months is a long time to wait.
Ideally, you wait a month, then see if it goest away.
Its something like 1% of all breast cancers occur in those people under 30, so its unlikely, but it does happen, and is usually associated with those genetic mutations and the discharge is strange… but you know what, I’ve what they call “lumpy breasts” after having a clinical exam, and they say 8/10 are nothing at all. But just to be safe, go to the drs!
Answer:
the lump you have doesn't have to be cancer, it could be a cyst. you should have gone and had a biopsy as soon as you found it, i know your scared but it is better to know what you’re up against than waiting till you’ve no choices at all, get to your doctor right now go pick up the phone and make your appointment.
Answer:
You need to quite waiting and get to the doctor now!!!Things are not usually as bad as we envision but get to the doctore please..Never assume it is cancer unless you are told that..
Answer:
YOU NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR ASAP! If it is cancer the sooner you see a doctor the superior chances you have of getting it removed with no problems.
Answer:
You need to get seen ASAP, it might not be cancer, but if it is the sooner you get treatment the better. Good luck
