My step father, is in hospital now, and he was as strong as an ox, and recovered from it 2 years ago, but now, it is beating him.

I see so many younger people in the wards, and I just feel like surely they’ll get superior, but then I think of my dad , and it's beating him.

Answer:
like some ppl in here said. some have some havent. i could honestly, honestly, state i know what you're going through. my father didn't beat it. im sorry

Answer:
I beat cancer and I recon a lot of it was to do with positive mental attitude. I was lucky enough to have a good partner to speak to about it which encouraged the 'I will beat this' factor in me. So I would personally be there for your step father and talk to him about the cancer. Ask him about his experience and how he is feeling everyday, and try to set a date of something really nice that you’re going to do in the future together. Just try to be supportive and positive for him but make sure there is always laughter in his day when you are together. You’re not his physician but you can be his tonic and be that someone/something to fight for.
This will be hard on you too so make sure you’ve a good friend outside of your family that you can talk to and get support from.

Answer:
I wouldn't think of it as 'beating.' It takes several battles to determine the war if you really want to think of it that way. It could be just me, but I hate when family members refer to my cancer in such negative terminology. You're step father is obviously a fighter. If he fought strong before, he'll fight strong again. As long as he's got his family and friends by his side, there's not much else you can do. And if you're going to look at it as losing or winning with cancer..people go into remission each day…and that's a victory in itself…every milestone..everytreatment completion is a victory and a win for your dad.

When you get knocked down, you get right back up ;)

Answer:
Some people beat cancer, and some don't. Right now, there are actually a lot of unknown factors with regard to who would be expected to beat cancer and who wouldn’t. Tumor type and stage are currently the ideal guides we have in this area. I know my grandfather beat cancer, but of course there are people every day who do not.

Answer:
It all depends on when we catch the cancer, what stage it's in, and how our bodies react to having it and the treatments we get for it. The earlier its caught, the better chance of survival, but really there's not one set answer for everyone. Cancer is an evil beast.
