I was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and have just completed chemotherapy in the last six months. My wig has taken a beating after 18 months of use and I hate it. I have to look in the mirror constantly so that its not slipping off. I can't work out with it on or go swimming with my friends. Cancer already stole 18 months from me, I don't want it to take anymore and I can't wait another year for my hair to grow back totally.
Does anyone have any recommendations of where I could go to get nice hair extensions?
Also, I’m curious if there are any organizations that would help me to pay for these extensions. Treatment expenses have left with large bills.
Thanks
Answer:
Many insurance companies cover “cranial prosthesis” with a prescription from your dr. It usually doesn't cover a massive amount, but each little bit helps.

Good luck in your success in this horrible disease. I kinda wish I'd gone absolutely bald, not 4 big bald spots from radiation! Report Abuse

Why do you care? As you realize, cancer has “already stolen 18 months” from you, get on with living and quit sweating the small stuff. Throw the wig out. Shave you head if you’ve to until the hair starts growing in thicker (& don't be surprised if your hair has changed from straight to curly or vice versa!) and swim bald, you'll go faster…
The people who care about you already know you have no hair, and there’s no logical reason for you to care (much) about strangers…
Congratulations on completing your chemo…
