Answer:
try the modestneeds.com network for Americans, for Canadians its modestneeds.ca .. they would be able to help you until you make other arrangements for further financial assistance.

Answer:
If you are not working then the local social security office should get you info for rental assistance, food stamps, etc. Also, look into food banks, churches for information.

Answer:
NC sucks. Your county will have a dept of human services that you need to go to. If you have a social worker on your team of docs, they can help you a lot. There are county programs for houseing and energy assistance and food stamps.

You will probably have better luck than I did being that you have a child.

Also, if you are a part of any church or civil group, ask for help. If you are up to it or have family that can help, go out into the community. Do some yard/bake sales, do some fundraisers, and ask businesses to set out penny jars.

If you are comfortable with it, go to the local news station. They love human interest stories and have the resources needed to get you help or get you to the right people.

Answer:
You should certainly talk to disability again and get on to it. Its designed to help people in your situation, as is welfare. You can get help through the government with regards to your childs school costs to some degree, and that might also cover transportation expenses. I'm from Canada so we do thinks quite a bit different here, but check out http://www.positivecancer.com i think there are a few tips on thier for how to get help. Also call the Cancer Society they must have an idea of how to help, and talk to your landlord about a "disability" discount.
