family members that are living their last days in pain from cancer?

It seems to be the only humane thing to do. I would not want to suffer like that fighting for every breath or being so drugged up that I’m not aware of who I’m or who anybody else is.

Is it not compassion to end a life with dignity than to see somebody you love suffering so?

Answer:
hi Dave
great question one i am asked regularly when i am at work
but i don’t to give my thought what i think is for me
all i do is listen and try and find help if i can

but i feel that as i am not working and you have asked i will give my answer BUT REMEMBER this IS MY VIEW AND FOR SOME IT WOULD NOT WORK FOR

as i stated yesterday i am on a course Cancer awareness

we had to get in a Group and talk about were we would like to end our life and what we would need to do to make this as dignified as possible ( ABOUT 70% OF THIS GROPE HAVE GOT CANCER OR BEEN THROUGH IT THEM SELF'S MOST HAVE CARED FOR A LOVED ONE AS THEY DIED)
and there was a mixed Response

the first thing we all felt, That it should be up to the pearson who is going to die and i really agree with this one

for me i would get to a point where i had lost quietly of life and i would end my own life and about 10% of the Group stated the same

for some that have strong religious beliefs and cant do this as it goes against there beliefs

one stated that they loved to swim and that they would go to the sea and just swim out and keep going till she could go no further ( this made me cry a bit cos this person is so special to me )

i believe we should have the right to die in dignity were and when we won't but that’s because i am not religious
i would say the point were i would lose quality of life would be when i couldn’t go toilet on own and was stuck in bed in pain

i also think it is impossible to to tell when someone has died from pain relief whether it was done on purpose or by accident or they just died

as i stated this is what i believe and i would never state this when at work
we all have to make our own select in life And death what i think Only works for me

my thoughts are with you and your wife

Answer:
I believe that all should have the right to choose. I would love to die with dignity but my religious belief does not agree. So. I leave it all in God's hands. I trust in God's plan and I’ve faith in Him and his decisions. Report Abuse

Answer:
Dave,
You’ve such a good point, there is something to be stated for QUALITY OF LIFE, I’ve seen too many loved ones dye from the raging torment of cancer, it is horrible.
I think these are things that need to be discussed with medical and family prior to an illness, like organ donation, make everything clear long before you are in a situation to have to either make that dicicion or have it made for you. A living will is a good answer to these questions.

Answer:
I concur. There is no reason why humans should have to suffer through to the end of an illness that an animal would be painlessly euthanized for. It would be kinder to the patient AND the family. I suspect it is the hospitals and hospices that leach money from the families that have been trying to block assisted suicide, because they wouldn't get paid for keeping people alive anymore.

Answer:
I do so agree we would be prosecuted if we let our animals suffer the way we do our loved ones, but my concern would be where would we draw a line and who could take anothers life very ill or not could you? im not sure I could! my worry would be people using it as an excuse to get rid of others ileagaly but i agree we need to look at this practise some how

Answer:
In that situation you should ask the hospital that you’re dealing with to put you in touch with a hospice near you.

They are experts in dealing with that situation both as regards the patient but also as support for the family.
