I know the pictures are pretty bad..
I have this mole on my back, and it itches. It is about half a centimeter in diameter, and there is this very red area around it which has never been there before. I only noticed it this day. I haven't scratched it or anything.
Could it be cancerous?

YES it sure could! I would make an appt with the dermatologist ASAP! Melanoma (skin cancer) runs in my family and it can look just like that… (even though your photos are pretty blurry). Get it checked out…

My husband had one that looked exactly like that on his back too. The family Dr was pretty sure that it was skin cancer. However, after it was removed and biopsied, it came back normal. To be on the safe side get it checked out, and see your Dermatologist.
My daughter on the other hand ( 26 y.o.) had a regular looking mole removed. (She'd had it for years) it came back as cancerous, so best to have all your moles looked at.

Not to make you scared or anything but yes you need to have that looked at. The doctor will look at it and take a small skin graft ( take a piece from it ) and send if off to tell if it is cancerous or not. But they’re not suppose to be red like that and itch and such. Please have it looked at very soon. The longer you get the worse it will get.

I AGREE WITH EVERYONE HERE…GET TO A DOCTOR ASAP….If it is melanoma it can grow into other organs and be deadly. PLEASE DON'T WAIT ANY LONGER.
I don't mean to scare you, but you MUST realize that you have a potentially dangerous situation here and praise the Lord if it isn’t..but getting it looked into NOW will help with the chances of getting it off your back before any damage is done.

Just go and get it checked out… a cancerous mole can be removed rather easily but you just have to go to a doctor. Don't wait until the cancer has spread because now is the time to treat it
