I'm fourteen and I'm not fully developed yet but I have one large lump in each of my breasts and it hurts when it's hit. It surrounds the area but is very hard. Do I’ve breast cancer or is this normal?
Answer:
The chances of you having breast cancer at your age are very close to zero.
It's mainly a disease of ageing; 80% of those diagnosed are over 50, it is rare in women under 40, very rare in women in their 20s and almost unheard of in under 20s.
Most breast lumps, even in women over 50, aren't cancerous. Most cancerous breast lumps don't injured. Anybody's breasts will hurt when they're hit.
It sounds to me as if what you describe is hormonal, and that your breasts are developing normally.
The fact that the symptoms you describe are present in both breasts make it even less likely that anything is wrong.
I suggest you speak about this with your mother, who will be able to reasure you. If you're still worried. mention it to your physician next time you see him/her
