I was in the shower and i was just doing a check up. i felt a little bump near my left nipple but it didnt hurt to touch or press. could this be breast cancer? i dont wanna ask my mum cos im too scared so plz dont say that! I'm only 13 so could I have breast cancer at this age??

Answer:
i would think at your tender age that this isn’t cancer love, your breasts are still growing and they do get a bit lumpy before a period.to put your mind at ease see your dr.i know its humiliating but its the right thing to do.good luck.

Answer:
At your age your chances of having breast cancer are very close to zero. It's a disease mainly associated with ageing - 80% of those diagnosed are over 50, and women in their 20s and 30s account for only a very small percentage of those diagnosed.

It is EXTREMELY rare in teenagers.

And most breast lumps, even in women over 50, aren't cancerous.

Your breasts are still growing and developing, and it's not unusual to notice changes like this in puberty. Breast self-examination is a way for adult women to become familiar with their breasts so that they’ll notice any changes and report them to their doctors. At your age changes in your breasts are the norm, and it isn't yet necessary to do breast self-examination.

I hope that knowing all this will make you less scared; if you really still feel you can't talk to your mither - which would be the ideal thing to do - have a talk with your school nurse (if schools haven't closed for the summer where you are).

But please bear in mind how very onlikely it is that you have breast cancer.

Answer:
It's unlikely to be breast cancer at your age, but you might want to see a doctor, anyway. Only a medical evaluation could tell you for sure. Also, if it's a cyst (which is the more likely thing), a physician can give you good and usually reassuring advice about how to deal with it and maybe about how to tell the difference. :)

Answer:
I don't think it's prone to be breast cancer at your age. It's more likely nto be a cyst.

However, you know what we're going to advise fullwell, don't you?

Tell your mum and she has the ability to make an appointment with the doctor to have it checked out just in case.

I’m SURE your mother would prefer know, than not and

medical advice should always be sought out in these cases.

I believe a cyst is a small sac that contains fluid. It develops naturally in our bodies. I don't believe they cause harm.

This is why you should see a doctor, he can tell you the difference.

Answer:
Scarey thought honey. At 13 it is probably not cancer…it could be a small cyst , or it could be your milk ducts developing.

In any case, you do need to chat with Mum , have her check it out ( I know, I know…its embarrassing)

Let her decide if she feels you need to see doctor to make sure all is as it should be.

This is when your Mum can really be your friend, and I am sure you will find her more approachable and empathetic than you think she has the ability to be.
