not sure of acid reflux leading to cancer but it can tear up the esphogas lining.
Answer:
What seems to happen is acid reflux damages the lining of the esophagus, and the body constantly tries to repair that lining by creating new cells. Sometimes what happens in a location that is constantly "under construction" is that certain of those processes start to run amok, building cells faster than they are required… That in a nutshell is often what's going on with cancer; tumors are sites where cells are being created willy nilly with no use other than to be there.
Read recent news articles regarding radiofrequency ablation, a treatment used to knock out precancerous cells found in esophageal tissue that has been repeatedly exposed to acid reflux.
Answer:
Acid reflux can lead to Barrett's esophagus which in a small percentage of the many people affected will then progress to adenocarcinoma of the stomach or throat. Because this cancer has typically spread prior to correct diagnosis the prognosis is not good.

Stopping the gastric reflux by taking a proton pump inhibitor drug like Prevacid or Protonix will halt the further development of Barrett's which will still need frequent examinations done via endoscopy to make sure there has been no progression towards cancer. A biopsy of the affected area of the throat can usually tell if there is serious cancer risk. High grade dysplasia found on biopsy indicates a potential cancer risk.
Answer:
Are you ASKING the question or TELLING us the answer….anyway, acid reflux does not lead to cancer of the throat lol.
