Abdominal distention?

Author: admin

are there any non invasive treatments for the abdominal distention that accompanies cancer & which types cause this symptom.

Answer:
Most all abdominal region cancers can cause abdominal distention which is the build-up of fluid within the abdominal cavity. I do not know of any non-invasive ways of relieving this. Most of the time, the abdomen is "tapped" using a catheter (like a large IV catheter) and the fluid is removed. This provides temporary relief for the patient but often has to be repeated when the abdomen swells and the patient again begins to have trouble breathing, laying, etc.
